01 / PROBLEM

What needed to change?

Does the placement of the “hamburger” icon that allows the user to efficiently return home and navigate across other pages affect the efficiency and error ratio?

02 / HYPOTHESIS

Users will navigate the website more efficiently and prefer the hamburger icon when it is placed in the top navigation compared to other placements.

04 / FINDINGS

What the research made clear.

Distill the important patterns into a few direct takeaways. Pair each finding with the evidence that supports it, then describe how it shaped the next decision.

01 — The “hamburger” icon as well as the home screen icon both hold extreme importance in terms of where they are placed to create a seamless user experience as well as increase efficiency

02 — People preferred the placement of the buttons on top, even though, on some of the prompts and depending on the user, their times were actually faster than when they were navigating the top nav.

03 — Based on this testing is although efficiency can sometimes outweigh the other options, user often find icon placement to be more enjoyable if it is natural and what they are used to compared to what is necessarily faster.
